See You In My Knightmares

It amazing to see that what ever mood that you may be in, there is a song to match your mood.  The mood that I'm in right can best be described in Kanye West and Lil Wayne's "See You In My Knightmares".  Take a listen.  I have the lyrics below and the lyrics in bold really spoke to me.  Enjoy.

[Intro: Kanye West (Lil Wayne)]
I'm cold! (Yeah)
I'm cold! (Yeah)
I'm cold! (Yeah)
(Yeah)

[Lil Wayne]
I got the right
To put up a fight
But not quite
Cause you cut off my light
But my sight
Is better tonight
And I might see you in my nightmare
Oh how'd you'd get there
Cause we were once a fairy tale
But this is farewell

[Kanye West]
I got my life
And it's my only one
I got the night
I'm running from the sun
So good night
I made it out the door, door, door, door, door
After tonight
There will be no return
After tonight
I'm taking off on the road
I'm taking off on the road
And letting you know
LETTING YOU KNOW

[Chorus: Kanye West]
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Kanye West]
Okay I'm back up on my grind
You do you and I'm just gon' do mine
You do you cause I'm just gon' be fine
Okay I got you out my mind
And the night is young
The drinks is cold
The stars is out
I'm ready to go
You always thought I was always wrong
Well now you know

[Chorus Kanye West]
Tell everybody, EVERYBODY that you know
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Lil Wayne]
I got the right
To put up a fight
But not quite
Cause you cut off my light
But my sight
Is better tonight
And I might see you in my nightmare
Oh how'd you'd get there
Cause we were once a fairy tale
But this is farewell

Babygirl I'm finished
I thought we were committed
I thought we were cemented
I really thought we meant it
But now we just repent it
And now we just resent it
The clouds is in my vision
Look how high that I be getting
And it's all because of you
Girl we through
You think your shit don't stank
but you are Mrs. P-U
And I don't see you
With me no more
Now tell everybody THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

[Chorus: Kanye West]
THAT YOU KNOW
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

L-L-L-L-LETTING YOU KNOW
Tell everybody that you know
That I don't love you no more
And that's one thing THAT YOU KNOW
THAT YOU KNOW

Graduation Season!!

Question:
What does 2 Lawyers, a Perfusionist, a Nurse Practitioner and a new college grad all have in common?

Answer:
They all graduated this year and we're all cousins.

I could focus on today being my graduation day from Perfusion School but this is not just my milestone, it's everyones especially my family.  2011 has been a great year for graduations in my family:

My cousin just graduated from Howard with a degree in Nursing
My other cousin will graduate with a Juris Doctorate (JD or she a lawyer now) tomorrow
My other cousin will also graduate from Law School (another JD)
My other cousin will graduate in June and she will be a Nurse Practitioner
And then there's me, I graduate today from the Cooper University Hospital School of Cardiovascular Perfusion and now pursuing a career in Perfusion.

I can't just praise myself when I have such a great family doing big things as well.  I once read in a book somewhere, perhaps you heard of it, its called the bible, and there was a passage that said:
"Teach your children to go on the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it."
All of us would not be here if it wasn't for our family and TRUE friends showing us that right path, supporting us, cheering for us, helping us, always having that never ending faith in us and seeing that untapped potential in us that at times we didn't see ourselves.  We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you.

So this is our time, let us celebrate.

Keep on evolving,

Here's to you,

Be the Light

I must give a huge shout out to all of the people close to me that are graduating from their respective programs and celebrating another milestone in their lives.  I was motivated to write this after a good friend and fraternity brother wrote a note on facebook reflecting on his journey to his Masters.  There was a paragraph in his note that seemed like it should be in a sports movie with valiant music playing in the background.  What he wrote was inspirational and motivating. . . .then I thought. . .what if it had a soundtrack to it and actually had background music.  Hmmmmm?

Let me try something.  I'm going to post a section of what my friend wrote but when you're reading it have the background music playing in the background.  Don't watch the video, just use it for the audio while reading.

(read this while music is playing)
"I say all of that to say this: Never let anyone tell you what you could and could not do. Your biggest enemy/obstacle is yourself. The minute you allow yourself to be defeated is when you have lost your vision in life and your future. Never let anyone tell you your dreams are not realistic. Dream are meant to become a reality no matter how big or small they are. Never settle of ordinary but always strive to be extraordinary. Don't see the light, but BE THE LIGHT! As human beings, we are capable of accomplishing many things. However, in order to accomplish them, we must have courage, dedication, passion, love, commitment, enthusiasm, and great worth ethic. Always have faith in Him because without him we are NOTHING!"

(Stop the background music)

Did it make a difference, I bet it did.

Congrats to all the graduates out there.  Celebrate your hard work.

Here's to you,
